About Me

I am a clinical health psychologist with over 30 years experience in the NHS and private sector. I am committed to providing professional and effective psychological therapy. My goal is to support you in resolving unhelpful patterns of beliefs and behaviour, to help you  reach your goals and lead your most fulfilling life.

Everyone is different and I will work with you to create an individalised therapy approach tailored you your needs and goals.

My primary therapeutic approach is EMDR, but I also incorporate CBT, compassionate mind therapy, and somatic approaches.

EMDR stands for eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing . It is grounded in the understanding that upsetting memories can become "stuck" in the mind, During EMDR therapy, the client is guided  to recall distressing memories while simultaneouosly engaging in bilateral stimulation. Bilateral stimulation facilitates the processing of upsetting memories, allowing them to be integrated into memory in a more adaptive way. Through this process, clients are able to work through these memories, processing the associated emotions and beliefs allowing the establishment of more adaptive beliefs, and reducing emotional distress.

Help with physical health problems

The relationship between mind and body, emotional and physical health are intricately entwined. Psychological therapy can work with this to achieve better physical and emotional health.

Throughout my career I have had an interest in working with people whose physical health problems impact on their emotional well-being. In my NHS work, I have specialised in working with people with chronic pain, chronic fatigue, cancer, obesity and dermatological problems, helping people manage difficult symptoms and establish a greater sense of personal control.
